This Windsor Home Is an Ode to Contemporary English Style
August 7, 2024
Appointed with calm colors and cozy finishes, this Tudor-style home is a perfect example of what Angus Reid Projects does best—spaces that are as stunningly designed as they are wholly unpretentious. A London-based designer, Reid’s considered eye comes to life everywhere you look, from the pared-back palette to the elegantly printed headboards. Below, we hear from Reid on how he got his start, his vision for the project, and some styling tips you can try at home.

This Windsor Home Is an Ode to Contemporary English Style
Rip & Tan: How did you get your start in the world of interiors?
Angus Reid: My journey to Interior Design was definitely not the conventional route! I studied real estate and finance up to the master’s level and went on to train to be a surveyor. I soon realized the uncreative corporate world wasn’t for me, and decided to follow my love of interiors and architecture. I started working for a high net-worth family, redeveloping their residential portfolio, and redesigning houses and flats in central London and the home counties. We had one of the projects published and it went viral! The inquiries started coming in and I made the decision to set up Angus Reid Projects and haven’t looked back!
Rip & Tan: You believe in the principle that quality design enriches one’s life. How do you define quality design?
Angus Reid: Well-designed homes have the ability to influence moods, productivity and overall well-being. We take a holistic approach—heavily influenced by art, architecture, and nature, to create timeless and refined homes for our clients. Working collaboratively, we seek to understand a client’s vision and style, and through our own creative lens, we reflect and tailor these preferences to create unique, personal and thought-provoking homes. Through our process, we deliver quality design that’s personalized to our client’s lifestyle and aesthetic.

Rip & Tan: With this home in particular, what was the guiding vision?
Angus Reid: We designed this home for a young family with two dogs who love to entertain. The house is Tudor-style, and as a result, it’s fairly dark. We wanted to keep the design as light and welcoming as possible, while also being warm, comfortable, and unpretentious. Emphasis was placed on natural materials and earthy, natural colors to create a harmonious and considered aesthetic.
Rip & Tan: How would you describe this home in 3 words?
Angus Reid: Sumptuous, soulful, and serene.
Rip & Tan: Can you walk us through some of your favorite finishes and details? How did you select them?
Angus Reid: The Calcutta Borghini marble worktops in the kitchen stand out for me. It took us months to find the perfect slabs, but I’m so glad we persisted as the subtle movement and warm tones work perfectly. The slabs we selected were 6 cm thick, giving a really chunky appearance which was needed given the scale and proportions of the kitchen.
We customized all the bathroom vanities in-house, tailored to our client’s requirements. This allowed us to have fun with the bespoke details and finishes. We worked closely with the clients to ensure the joinery was completely fit for its purpose and went through a thorough sampling process to ensure the wood vanities perfectly matched the tone and texture of the existing beams.
Rip & Tan: What makes a space feel truly complete?
Angus Reid: When the fires are lit and the dogs are sitting close by, music is playing and something delicious is cooking in the oven. This house is made for relaxing and spending time with loved ones—and feels complete when it’s full of people.
