Gift List: Interior Designer Augusta Hoffman’s Most-Coveted Finds
December 13, 2023
With the holiday season well underway, we’re back with another installment of Gift List—the series in which we ask some of the most thoughtful tastemakers we know to share the items they’re gifting this season. Next up: how interior designer Augusta Hoffman brings an element of the unexpected to the season’s classic charm—from unique gifts to post-holiday parties.

Gift List: Interior Designer Augusta Hoffman’s Most-Coveted Finds
Rip & Tan: How would you describe your approach to holiday gifting?
Augusta Hoffman: I think about what I would want! While a potted paperwhite or nice bottle of champagne always feels luxurious, I like to find things that feel personal, playful and very considered.
Rip & Tan: What are some items you’re most excited to gift loved ones this year?
Augusta Hoffman: For all the new babies in my life, I ordered mini custom cord pillows from Bode. I love to have their team illustrate state flowers and birds that bring instant personality and whimsy to a nursery space. I also stocked up on glamorous and charmingly mundane homewares from Frank Traynor’s show with The Future Perfect—my sister is getting a jewel-encrusted can opener.
Rip & Tan: Which home items are on your personal wishlist this year?
Augusta Hoffman: Anything and everything from Jan Barboglio.

Rip & Tan: In a season defined by entertaining, what are your go-to host’s gifts?
Augusta Hoffman: My husband bottles up homemade, classic negronis and clarified spicy margaritas. He is getting very into custom labels and packaging this year. It all feels very festive!
Rip & Tan: What are you most looking forward to this holiday season?
Augusta Hoffman: The first weekend in January, I am planning to break out all of my vintage silver candlesticks and fine china from Laboratorio Paravincini to host my closest friends for Chinese takeout and champagne. It is my favorite way to bring everyone together after holiday travel and extend the season’s festivities.
