DIY: Essential Oil Room Spray

As I’ve highlighted in past posts, I love giving gifts of the homemade and all natural variety. With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I wanted to share a quick tutorial for making essential oil room sprays as easy as they are lovely, with a presentation to match. Completely customizable, you can incorporate your favorite scents (a rosemary blend for the kitchen or a relaxing lavender blend for the bedroom) and make them as strong or as light as you like by adjusting the amount of essential oil.

Materials:

6 tablespoons filtered water

10-40 drops of pure essential oil (I especially love Young Living.)

1 tablespoon of vodka (to allow the water and oil to mix)

small glass spray bottle (I like this recycled glass option.)

natural twine

fresh or dried botanicals that correspond to your essential oils

Instructions:

Using a funnel, place the vodka into your spray bottle and add the desired amount of essential oil drops (I used about 30 for a nice but not overpowering scent). Shake well.

Add water and shake again to ensure that the essential oils are evenly distributed. Be sure to shake again before each use.

Insert a sprig of your chosen botanical into the glass bottle and seal.

For added presentation, simply tie a small amount of this same botanical to your bottle using natural twine. XXJKE
