Jenni's Packing Guide: Labor Day Weekend

It’s hard to believe summer is nearly over; the season always seems to fly by. The only silver lining is the nearness of Labor Day weekend, which is always a great time to make memories with family and friends. This year I’ll be in Lake Tahoe with my loved ones; hiking, swimming, and otherwise soaking up as much of the outdoors as possible. As such, my wardrobe will consist of effortless pieces that are functional outside, while still looking great in the family photos.

Denim from Re/Done, one of our ultra-soft cashmere T-shirts, and our easy striped boyfriend shirt will definitely be in my suitcase. Sun-friendly accessories—like Garrett Leight sunglasses and Birkenstocks—are also key. And instead of a leather bag I’ll carry sunscreen and other odds and ends in one of Merchant Modern’s Moroccan straw totes. They’re a cross between a purse and a beach bag, holding just enough—and they add a summery finish to every outfit too.

Of course, the weekend wouldn’t be complete without swimwear. Solid & Striped—a new brand for us this season—does a high-cut striped one-piece that has just the right amount of all-American flavor for Labor Day weekend.
