Picnic and Gingham

After my kid’s picnic post, I was inspired to write one for us adults. In the summer, I love a picnic and am always attracted to gingham. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is pack up a great picnic with the kids and go up to Franklin Canyon to feed the ducks. It’s so close to home but beautiful and you feel like you’re outside of LA. I wanted to share my favorite picnic accessories and my favorite gingham moments.

Accessories

Placemats and Napkins

I love MYdrap napkins and placemats. They are chic and disposable but you can also wipe them down and reuse them. I found them in red and white gingham and I love the placemats and napkins.

Plates & Cutlery

I’m always a fan of bamboo cutlery, and as you know – I love enamel plates. These white enamel plates with red rims work perfectly with the gingham napkins. For something a little easier that you can toss out, I always like bamboo plates.

Picnic Baskets

I have searched for the best picnic baskets and love the Peterboro Basket from Heath. I also like a pre-packed picnic basket and we have an amazing one at our house in Tahoe. Mine is very similar to these Sutherland blue and red plaid options. I also like this smaller red and white gingham option.

Picnic Blankets

To lay it all out, Pendleton blankets are my favorite and I’m partial to the Glacier National Park Blanket . I also like their Lumberman blanket. Other great options are Thunderbird Blankets in blue or red – I have a couple of these and they are great for a picnic or for the park with kids.

Gingham Clothes

For the Little Ones

I love gingham, especially for the kids. Ripleys’s friend Marlowe brought her these adorable red and white gingham bloomers for her 1st birthday and she has been living in them all summer. Makie is one of my favorite kid’s collections for boys and girls and I can always count on them for amazing gingham pieces. Both my kids have had amazing gingham pieces that they’ve lived in. For spring, Makie did a great jumper that’s unisex in bright blue and in a black gingham. They also make their classic bucket hats that I am a huge fan of in blue and grey gingham. And for this fall they have an adorable vest and skirt coming in blue and black gingham that I can’t wait to get my hands on.

For the Grownups

J.Crew always has great gingham classic collared shirts for men and woman. For the guys I really like this Irish Linen Camp shirt that’s on sale right now. For the ladies I like the Thomas Mason shirt. XXJKE
