Style Blogger Alicia Lund’s Easy Everyday Uniform
April 19, 2017

There is nothing better than a great pair of vintage jeans; I live in mine pretty much year-round. Style blogger Alicia Lund is the same way. When we photographed her in her newly remodeled Sacramento home recently, she reached for her two favorite pairs of Re/Done jeans instinctively. She then styled them with loose silk and cashmere tops from my spring collection along with delicate layering jewelry and my Italian leather sandals and slides. I love how easy and effortless her pairings were; perfect for a day spent working on her blog, Cheetah is the New Black, and playing with her new son, Rex. Get inspired by Alicia’s elegant take on vintage denim and learn more about her enviable style, below.

Rip & Tan: Why did you gravitate towards these specific Jenni Kayne pieces? How do they work with your personal style?
Alicia Lund: The great thing about Jenni Kayne is that her pieces are so classic and versatile. I chose a pretty cream blouse with an open back (swoon!), a black cashmere sweater, and the perfect long cardigan. Also, her slides are the best for slipping on quickly on your way out the door. They jive perfectly with my personal style as I’m all about classic, effortless everyday basics. They’re the kind of investment pieces you will have and wear for years to come.
Rip & Tan: What personal items did you incorporate into the looks? Tell us about where you found these pieces.
AL: My everyday jewelry; my Jennifer Fisher charm necklace (the charms all have sentimental meaning and are gifts from my husband), dainty stacking rings (a few are from Jenni Kayne!) and a pinky ring that I stole from my mom (it originally belonged to my Nana). I also wore my favorite Re/Done jeans; both a straight cropped cut and a flared, longer cut. I’m all about high-rise jeans right now.
Rip & Tan: Where would you wear these outfits? How do they fit into your lifestyle?
AL: My lifestyle is very casual so I would wear any of these looks to coffee, working from home, or running errands. I would wear the cream blouse out to dinner with my husband and her knit tee layered under a leather jacket to San Francisco. The cardigan layered over a tee or blouse is very much my normal, about town look.
Rip & Tan: Do you have any rules or advice on wearing menswear-inspired pieces like our military jacket in a flattering way?
AL: Scrunch the arms to give it a more stylish look. And when wearing more oversized pieces keep the rest of the look more form-fitting.
Rip & Tan: How would you modify these outfits when the weather warms up further? Any general tricks or techniques you like to use when transitioning in between seasons?
AL: I would pair the cream blouse with cropped wide-leg cream pants and swap the longer jeans for denim shorts. When transitioning in between seasons even if it’s still cool this time of year I’ll start to wear lighter colors (currently craving lots of spring whites).
Rip & Tan: Is the first/last item you put on when putting together an outfit? How do you tend to build a look?
AL: I always build my look around the piece I’m most excited about unless I have to think about the weather or what I have planned for the day, in which case I’m more practical. I finish every outfit with jewelry; lots of small, beautiful pieces layered up in different ways.
